Defaqto have been producing Star Ratings since 2000 and they now cover more than 80 separate areas. Their Star Ratings cover general insurance and life and protection. Star Ratings award a product or proposition a rating of 1 to 5 based on its feature quality and comprehensiveness. A 4 or 5 Star Rating indicates that a proposition represents one of the best quality offerings in the market. Defaqto rate the products not the providers and do not assess price in the calculation of Star Ratings.

Some serious advice...
You will find that policies provided through popular comparison websites have many of the useful, claimable features removed to make the prices marginally cheaper. They are, after all, price comparison websites rather than focusing on quality and reliability. These sites are creating an under-insurance problem in the UK, pass a lot of the responsibility to the customer to understand complex definitions and features, perform hard credit searches in some cases that can affect your credit rating, and charge for installment plans. Many of
these policies also charge prohibitively large sums for you to adjust your policy and don’t often display these charges.
Comparison sites will never display Defaqto ratings. They don’t want you to know what you are buying and how it is rated.

Your consultation is obligation and cost free, as is looking at any recommendation we may offer. We do not always charge a fee. This depends on your circumstances. When we do charge fees we take into consideration the commission we receive from the lender. Please check the Key Messages provided to you for the basis on which we charge fees. It will also be explained to you by your adviser. All fees in all circumstances are discussed with you and put in writing prior to any application being made. Our charge to advise and arrange your mortgage is £695. We deduct any lender commission expected from this fee. If the lender commission exceeds £695, we will not charge you at all. For example, if we receive £600 from the lender, we will levy a charge to you on completion of £95. We do not charge for setting up life assurance, critical illness, income protection or other insurance.

Representative example: Annual interest rate of 6.9%, Representative 7.5% APRC Variable. Based on borrowing of £80,000 over 240 repayments of £631.06. Total amount repayable £151,824.40. Includes lender fee of £495 and broker fee of £1,500.
